We are the only shelter in Denver that allows men to work night shifts. We have a dedicated room of about 15 beds for night workers so that they can work at night and sleep during the day.
Other shelters have curfew hours where they must been be in at a certain time. We have the flexibility to allow for odd hours, changing shift responsibilities and men who have more than one job and very long hours.
It isn’t perfect. there are times when the men have to get up during the day , or move to the church basement to sleep while we perform deep cleaning, have pest control treatments or special events. But, all the men are grateful for the opportunity to have a safe and clean environment and the opportunity to find a job, no matter what the hours may be.
The lights usually out during the day so the men can sleep. This is what the room looks like when the lights are on.
